In the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology the students are expected to familiarize themselves with concepts and processes of conception, child birth, reproductive health, family planning, labour room procedures and women specific diseases.
The students are also trained to carry out their own assessment of patients and learn when to refer a patient to a specialist concerned. Medical students would practice communication, interviewing and examination skills by talking histories from female patients with symptoms pertaining to reproductive system.
All students are expected to maintain privacy of the patients without breaking cultural and gender norms. Gynecology and Obstetrics is indeed a critical field of medicine that deals with almost half of the global population in the females.
